Clarksdale Wine & Cuisine to Benefit Mississippians with Diabetes
Delta cuisine and complementary wines coupled with live entertainment will make for both a charming and unforgettable evening. More importantly, all of the proceeds will benefit the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM) and contribute to life-saving medical supplies, research, educational programs and services for Mississippians.
The Clarksdale wine and cuisine pairing will be held Thursday, April 24 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the home of Bill and Francine Luckett. Bill Luckett, along with actor Morgan Freeman, owns Clarksdale’s famous Ground Zero Blues Club and Madidi restaurant.
Bill "Howl-n-Madd" Perry will be the entertainment for the evening.
“This is going to be a fabulous event,” said DFM Executive Vice President Mary Fortune. “Of course, there will be delicious food and wines, but, more importantly, this is an opportunity to get to the heart of diabetes by raising awareness in the Delta, which has the highest incidence of diabetes in the state. Every dollar raised at this charitable event will stay in Mississippi to support diabetes programs and services for all children, adults and seniors.”
Some of the participating food sponsors include Madidi and The Ranchero Restaurant in Clarksdale and Andie's Catering Company, Prime and L&M’s Kitchen & Salumeria in Oxford.
Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, First National Bank of Clarksdale and The Woman’s Clinic of Clarksdale and Eli Lilly & Co are Pinot Grigio sponsors of the event. At the Merlot level is Cohen Investments.
“Francine and I are delighted to be hosting a fundraiser for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi,” said Bill Luckett. “Over the past few years through our various charity works, we have become increasingly aware of the near epidemic reality of persons suffering with diabetes in the Mississippi Delta. We sincerely hope you will attend this important function.”
The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM) is the state’s only nonprofit health organization that provides diabetes research, information, patient services and advocacy.
The cost is $40 per person or $75 for a couple. For more information about the event, contact DFM North Mississippi Regional Coordinator Meg Frazier at megfrazier@msdiabetes.org or by calling 662-232-2777.
