Thousands of walkers laced up their shoes to walk for Mississippi's No. 1 health problem – diabetes.
Legions of walkers, runners, bicyclers, skaters and strollers alike join friends, family members, co-workers and pets to walk for a healthier Mississippi each year at Mississippi’s Walk for Diabetes, held in all corners of the state: Gulfport, Jackson, Hattiesburg, McComb, Oxford, Columbus, and Meridian.
Sponsored by the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM) – the state’s only nonprofit organization that provides diabetes research, education, patient services, children’s programs and advocacy to Mississippians of all ages, – the annual Walk for Diabetes draws hundreds of participants. Participants come to show their support for not only the DFM’s mission of service to the 372,000 Mississippians with diabetes but also for their loved ones fighting the disease.
