Discover: The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi

The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi is the state’s premier nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information, patient services and advocacy. The mission of the DFM is to provide hope through research, programs and services to the 346,500 Mississippians with diabetes.

We are Mississippi’s diabetes team working for all Mississippians– from our children to our seniors!

The DFM is the one organization totally dedicated to all Mississippians, who live with diabetes as well as their families. Every dollar raised by the DFM stays in the state to fund research and educational programs and to provide services.

A group of local Mississippi physicians chartered the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi in 1965 as the Diabetes Association of Mississippi. On Feb. 10, 1998, the Board of Directors voted to become the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, an independent nonprofit organization. The DFM then expanded its services to the grassroots level, so that it could better serve all Mississippians with diabetes.

Through our three locations in Jackson, Oxford and Hattiesburg, the DFM strives to better serve Mississippians with diabetes; provide more programs statewide; and increase research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center!
